Compassionate, Research-Informed Psychotherapy in the High Country

I am a Licensed Psychologist serving adults in North Carolina and PSYPACT-participating states via telehealth or in-person in my office in Boone, NC.

  • I specialize in clinical health psychology, which is the study of how our thoughts, feelings, and actions impact our bodies/physical health (and vice versa). I love to work with people seeking help with chronic pain, chronic illness, health anxiety, and reproductive/sexual health issues such as infertility, chronic pelvic pain, or postpartum depression or anxiety. I also frequently treat anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, and OCD.

In addition to these easily-labeled specialties, there are a couple niche types of clients that I’ve found to be a great fit with my strengths, specialties, and experiences:

-People for whom religion, spirituality, and/or existential concerns play an important role in their symptoms or difficulties

-People with diagnoses such as OCD who are looking specifically for someone to treat their symptoms with a clinical, evidence-based approach (as opposed to therapy that primarily consists of supportive listening or general coping skills)

  • I practice an integrated blend of evidence-based treatments, which you can read about on the “Specialties, Services, and Fees” page. My interpersonal style is warm, authentic, and open. My goal is to create an environment where you feel 100% accepted and supported and, at the same time, challenged to face the tough things. I try to balance talk with action - meaning that instead of only discussing your problems, I want us to actively practice new ways of thinking, feeling, and doing inside and outside of our sessions.
